Think of the front entry door as a smile
on the face of the home. You want it to be clean (no broccoli in the teeth), fresh, and inviting. A quality door with attractive door hardware will imply that this house is quality thru and thru. It must operate smoothly.
Choose accessories for the door and surrounding areas that play up its features (now we are talking lipstick, blush, and mascara). Look for an elegant entry light, a charming mailbox, and house numbers that are visible from the street.
Potted plants, topiary and a seasonal wreath are like jewelry enhancing that perfect smile. Now just make sure the inside "wow" lines up to that outside smile.
Here's lookin at you, kid!

Call me!

AMEN Kathleen. I keep hammering that away to realtors and they keep giving me the deer in the headlights look. I guess they just like the curb appeal of hundreds of wet and smashed newspapers in the driveway. Check out my blog "tell all the people" the doors for a perfect example of what you are saying.
Terry Haugen - STAGE it RIGHT!
How about this house for "Curb appeal" issues. Doors are important - but first, let's get the house painted the right color! I actually saw this house as I was driving away from a vacant preview yesterday - and I HAD to stop to take a picture. It's just WRONG! I think the metal fence is a nice touch for the entry.

Ahhhh Robert you caught that did you?
Terry I did read your blog- love the ox blood red
Thanks Jo! Come on in .....
Jennie I used to like the color green but now I'm just so busy admiring that chain link fence I hardly noticed it.
Kathleen,
There is a song from the "Sound of Music" which says 'let's start at the very beginning - a very good place to start....' and so it is with the front door. A large part of the buyer's first impression of the house begins there. It really needs to be welcoming and invite the person in!
Cute post!

Fun analogy, especially the broccoli in teeth :>)
